The Corrs are leading Irish act in UK all time Top 50

Well, what can I say!

I was both delighted and surprised to read that Talk On Corners was the biggest selling Irish album in the UK over the past 50 years!

I’m lost for words right now, so I’ll let the hotpress article do the rest of the talking:

“The Corrs’ Talk On Corners is the biggest selling Irish album in the UK over the past 50 years.

It also ranks as the No.20 best selling album of all time in the UK, a remarkable achievement for the Dundalk band, which accurately reflects the scale of their impact across the water.“

    Congrats!!! It was the album of albums from the Corrs! The defining moment in the history of UK charts. It was the first album I bought and listened to until today! Never got tired of listening to it as if it’s my music therapy when I’m bored tired or sad. Then I got curious of the first one and the rest followed. For me it was the best studio album from you guys. Fingers crossed, hoping that your album will reap the success like that of TOC! Hope that you come back to Philippines and do your promo.

    I said it before and once again, you guys are one album short from being 2nd best band of all time. Your writing ability is on par with Lennon / McCartney. You put your vocals front and center unlike so many today and your covers are either equal or better then the original.

    You may not have the most units sold of one album yet but that’s something to shoot for.
    When you guys come back how about a mini movie similar to hard days night. Geez your married to all theses rich dudes make them pay up.

    Congrats on the Talk on Corners achievement! I’ve been a huge fan of The Corrs for so long now and that’s pretty much because my sister bought this album back in 1998. She saw I Never Loved You Anyway on MTV and thought you girls looked so cool! She loved the tune too! After a while she got a little bored by the album and I “borrowed” it, I never gave it back! Yes, I am the younger sister :) Somewhere I read the album was difficult to make, but the music is fantastic and it still works, at least for me. It deserves all the credits.

    Does it really surprise you? To be honest all the people always talk about U2 but TOC is one of the best albums ever!! I'm sure if you look for the numbers in Spain, The Corrs are the best sellers from the UK and Ireland too!

    I was right!! the 38º biggest selling album EVER in Spain (in 2007). And the 6º one in English (just below Spice Girls, BSB, Phil Collins, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson)… I think it's pretty awesome for a non English-speaking country!! (FNF is the 185º)
