Sharon I just had a thought if you held the violin like a guitar except higher near the breast, strings inline with right elbow and had a bow shaped like a flattened ( held in the middle, I wonder if that would work? Then you could sing while playing.

This playing method is called the “kamantche” I guess, which means “playing the violin vertically”.
You can see famous morrocan female singer and vilonist Zina Daoudia doing it during her shows, for example.
