After Thoughts
Hey Guys!
Well, that was fab! Took me a couple of days to recover from Glastonbury. I had a blast. We all did. I played quite a few new songs and I could see some of the audience singing along, which was thrilling!
I did a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” (which got a great response), “Small Town Boy” and The Korgis’ “Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometime.” The trad got the place rocking! After the initial pre-show nerves, I felt we really relaxed as a band. It’s so great to be back on stage. I sometimes wonder how I managed without it for three whole years!
Backstage was very interesting. I met Penguin Cafe Orchestra, saw them perform and have been a fan for years. Silver Strand, which I wrote years ago with Caroline, was directly inspired by them.
I met Imelda May and her band, a really nice bunch and a great performance. And amazingly got talking to Roger Maguinn of The Byrds: “Do you still get nervous before gigs?” I asked. “You wouldn’t be normal if you didn’t.” We’ve been Twittering ever since!
Had a good walk round Glastonbury. Never saw so many hippies with credit cards in all my life. Loved it. Great vibe.
I will never forget the site of Blur rocking the main stage as we left. The place was sea of lights.
Lookout for me on “This Morning” on the 15th July. And doing “Carpool” with Robert Llewellyn around that time too. I’ll let you know more details as we get closer to the time.
Off to see Jeff Beck tonight in Dublin!
Talk soon. All my love.
Sharon xx
